On this page I give my honest experience with No Nonsense Muscle Building course. I share with you how it helped me to crack the muscle building code and finally transform my body. I also go through the points I didn’t like about the book. And finally recommend for whom this book is for and who should not get this.
I’m not pretending to be a bodybuilding guru or anything. I’m just a guy from down the trenches. And I hope that by sharing my experience I can make your transformation a bit easier.
So let’s get to it then.
My early struggles
Reading No Nonsense Muscle Building was what helped me to crack the muscle building code.
I’m almost embarrassed to admit that when I first got into bodybuilding I was full of enthusiasm and fire but short on actual knowledge. I read all the muscle building magazines I could find. I talked to people on the forums and listened to advice from other guys at the gym.
You can probably already see where this is going. After 6 months of that I was left more confused than I started. All that so called knowledge from magazines and other lifters created more questions than answers.
I worked our 5 days a week, and every time more than an hour. My cabinet was full of supplements and powders. All that cost me a small fortune but I figured it’s an investment on my body.
Unfortunately I had little to show for that. Sure I had gained about 7 pounds and was somewhat stronger. Still I felt cheated. Like after all that work this is the result? I felt that at that pace it’s doing to take me a decade to get to decent size.
Cracking the muscle building code
I had read about Vince Delmonte’s (click to read profile) book No Nonsense Muscle Building before, but I figured I don’t need it. After all I was reading all the magazines and bodybuilding forums. I figured what could I ever learn from some ebook.
Long story short, one evening I decided to bite the bullet. I was getting frustrated with my constant failure to get results.
I know this is an incredibly cheesy thing to say, but that’s the moment that changed it all for me.
When I read the book I could almost hear all the pieces falling into place. I can honestly say that Vince’s book finally helped me to crack the muscle building code.
From techniques to fundamentals
I think the most important thing I got from Vince was solid understanding of fundamentals. And once I understood these fundamentals it all cleared for me. I finally understood why I wasn’t getting any results.
I finally got it that building muscle isn’t about techniques, tips or tricks. This is where the magazines screw you over. They come up with a new secret, tip or technique every month. And they make you believe that’s the key that finally helps you to build muscle. They have to do this; otherwise you have no reason to buy the latest issue.
What Vince helped me to understand are the few fundamentals. Once you get those, then the tips and techniques don’t matter that much.
Results
Here are my before and after pictures. The first pic was taken just before I started Vince’s program. The second picture is 12 weeks later. Quite a difference.
In those 12 weeks I managed to pack 25 lbs of solid muscle on my scrawny frame and finally managed to gain some self-respect.
The crazy thing is that during Vince’s program I worked less than I did before. But I worked smarter:
- I was more systematic with my training. I followed a schedule whereas before I was more haphazard.
- I stuck to one program instead of going from one technique to another
- I started keeping a training journal. And I know understand that this is a crucial tool if you want to get decent results.
- I made sure I was well rested and made constant progress.
That’s my experience with No Nonsense Muscle Building.
What I liked about No Nonsense Muscle Building
Obviously I love the results I got. But other than those, here are some other things I liked in Vince’s book.
- Comprehensive - I liked that Vince covers every important part of bodybuilding. Everything from training schedule, exercises, diet, rest, supplements, and much much more. Pretty much everything you need to know about building muscle.
- Detailed - Not only is his course comprehensive, but Vince also covers everything in detail. Meals plans are extremely detailed, broken down to single egg white
Exercise plan shows how many sets and reps you need to do and on what day. And so on and so on. Maybe you don’t need this much hand-holding, but it’s good to know it’s there if you need it. - Saves money – Though the course is not cheap it helped me to save money. Vince showed me which supplements are good and which are waste of money. Because of his information I could ditch many of the supplements I was taking before. This has already saved me several hundred dollars.
- Vince sincerely wants to help you – When you go through all the material it’s obvious that Vince sincerely wants to help you. He hasn’t just rehashed some old material and slapped together a cheap ebook. He included a lot of supporting material also because he really wants you to succeed. And when you go to his forums you can see he’s looking out for his customers. Any questions I ask from him by email I always get a prompt and helpful reply.
The Upside Down Training Program
I have to admit I didn’t want to do this. Vince’s course includes a sort of a tuneup program called Upside Down Training. This is a combined bodyweight and weight training program. It’s designed to fix any imbalances and weaknesses your body has before you start hitting serious weights.
I didn’t want to do this. But because I trusted Vince I dragged myself kicking and screaming to go through this. And boy am I glad I did.
By improving my flexibility and getting my core and supporting muscles tuned up I could hit much bigger weights. And because it improved my posture I started looking more athletic.
This kind of tune up program is really important for desk jockeys and other non-athletes (like I used to be). And it’s missing from every other bodybuilding book out there.
What I didn’t like about No Nonsense Muscle Building
Vince has put together a great course, but it’s not perfect. Here are some points I didn’t like.
- The book looks garish. It’s obvious that Vince isn’t a graphic designer. And with the red and blue highlights the book looks hmmm… amateurish. I wish he had given it to some pro to look over.
- Vince also has a tendency to babble a bit. His writing style is informal and he tends to babble a bit. It’s not really distracting, but with little editing the book could be more concise and easier to manage.
- No summaries and action items. I wish Vince would have included a summary and action items for each chapter. All the info is there, but you have to trawl through a lot of info to find the one point you are looking for.
- For serious people only. No Nonsense Muscle Building is not for weekend warriors. Serious results take serious commitment and effort. You have to be honest with you on this one. Do you really want this? Are you willing to do what it takes? If you hesitate here then this book is not for you.
These downsides make reading the book somewhat annoying. I don’t know about you, but I can put up with little bit of annoyance to get the results I’m after.
Conclusion and recommendations
Vince Delmonte’s No Nonsense Muscle Building is the most comprehensive bodybuilding course I have yet to see. You could call it The Bodybuilding Bible.
Unlike many other courses No Nonsense Muscle Building has a solid focus on fundamentals. Vince teaches you the things you need to know to get results without confusing you with too many tips or techniques.
The program is simple to follow. Vince lays out everything you need to know and do in detail. So you always know what to do next.
Thought the book is simple, it’s not easy. This is for serious people only. Please don’t get this book if you are not ready to commit to it. You are not going to get results if you half-ass this program.
Ask yourself
Do you really want this? Are you willing to do what it takes? If you can’t answer yes to those then this program is not for you.
And most important. Are you willing to set aside the “I know it all” attitude and invest a bit of money to a proven program and advice? Advice that gets results and in the end even saves you money. Because the fastest way to get results is to follow those who have already done it. So are you willing to do that?
